Student Testimonials
-
“There was academic support, wellness resources, accommodations for students with disabilities, sessions for stress relief, World plaza and Japan plaza (students can speak any language except for Japanese, and only Japanese respectively). The school also pairs students with a “language buddy”, shortly after completing an online form. As well as online meetings before the actual exchange term. Students are also able to participate in clubs, campus events, and volunteer activities that are encouraged by the inbound exchange office.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Computer Science

“Attendance to lectures/class are mandatory, but this also allows the student to typically easily pass the course, as attendance (plus a written summary of our weekly readings or in class discussion) typically counts for more than half the course grade.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Computer Science

“I lived in Nanzan University’s newest dormitory, Janssen International Residence. In this residence accommodation, international students and local Japanese students live in wings. It would be 50% international students, 50% local students. There were often events, giving students many opportunities to interact and communicate with each other, sharing cultural exchanges, and improving language proficiencies. My dorm was kept very clean and organized, and conveniently located next to campus. I was very happy with living in this dorm, though there are other dorms and homestay options as well.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Computer Science

“At Nanzan University, there are many multiple day breaks, so try to utilize these and weekends to the best of your ability. Nagoya is a very easy city to make day trips from, easily accessing the World Heritage Site Shirakawago, as well as seeing the famous city of Takayama which has lots of historical and cultural points. Because students have so much time before actually leaving abroad, I highly recommend planning itineraries so that you can easily execute them while abroad. I visited almost half of Japan’s prefectures during my stay, and over 36 cities and villages. I also highly recommend researching about what kind of festivals and concerts students might be able to attend while abroad. Aside from Japan’s popular cities, I recommend trips to Ise, Nikko, Magome, Yokohama.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Computer Science
