Student Testimonials
-
“The university had fantastic mental health and physical health supports, both of which I needed to access during my time there. Taiwan’s healthcare system was also very advanced and accessible, as well as affordable. NCCU is full of opportunities to get involved. It is one of the most club-heavy and involved student communities I have ever been a part of.” – Winter 2025, Master of International Affairs
“The student office at NCCU were really supportive and answered all my questions. For campus life there were lots of different clubs with a club fair each semester to see what you want to join. The international office also sent out volunteer activities like English teaching/exchange with high schools and some school organized trips.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of International Business
-
“The courses were very easy to find. Culturally, Taiwanese students often overload their registration and spend the first week of classes testing out all the courses they want to try, then they release or add courses based on their experiences. Knowing this, Canadian students should select all the courses they are considering, and then make their decisions based upon in-person experiences. There was a lot of wiggle-room.” – Winter 2025, Master of International Affairs
“Course search engine is easy to use. A lot of foreign teachers teach the English section, so teaching style/expectations are like home.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of International Business
-
“I lived off-campus. If I had my time back, I think I might have chosen to live in the I-House as it is a great accommodation.” – Winter 2025, Master of International Affairs
“Use Facebook, there are specific Taiwan rental websites, but they are all in Chinese which is hard to use. Look for accommodations a little more in the city (Da’an, etc).” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of International Business
-
“I was not required to set up a bank account. Regarding my cell phone, there were plenty of agencies for buying sim cards, but students should consider switching to a phone that can support an e-sim as this will be easiest for travel around the region (which is extremely popular for exchange students to do) and is much cheaper.” – Winter 2025, Master of International Affairs
“Activating phone is easy and you can get 6 months prepaid SIM card so you don’t have to worry about a plan and if you want to buy another 6 months you can keep your phone number.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of International Business

“There are so many places to see and visit in Taiwan. Kenting is beautiful, Wai’ao Beach is amazing for surfing, Taroko National Park and Hualien were breath-taking. Take the time to really do Taiwan right, hike and surf and scuba dive, and then try to see surrounding countries like Vietnam and Japan and Thailand which are all really close by.” – Winter 2025, Master of International Affairs
“Travelling in Taiwan is incredibly easy since it’s a small place with great transportation. A great English website to plan trips is “nickkembel.com”. He is a Canadian who lives in Taiwan and has detailed blog posts that are regularly updated. Also check out Matsu Islands or Kinmen or Taiping Shan.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of International Business
