Dr. Guadalupe Escalante Rengifo is a Contract Instructor in the Department of History at Carleton University and has served as a Part-Time Professor at the University of Ottawa since 2018. She is recipient of the University of Ottawa’s Part-Time Professor of the Year Award (2024–2025), an honor that reflects her commitment to “teaching that connects and transforms” Dr. Escalante-Rengifo holds dual Ph.D. degrees: one in History from the University of Puerto Rico and another in Spanish, specialized in Latin American Cultural Studies, from the University of Ottawa.
Her interdisciplinary work spans the colonial and modern eras, focusing on Latin America history and culture, and Latin American migration and forced displacement, human rights, and memory in the Global North. In 2025, she was nominated for the Governor General’s Academic Medal.
