Hicham Boutaleb is a historian of medieval Iberia whose research focuses on historiography, nationalism, and memorialization. His doctoral research examined the Anglo-American historiography of medieval Iberian interreligious relations (1948–2018) and was completed under the supervision of Thomas F. Glick. He pursued doctoral studies at the University of Exeter under Simon Barton and continued doctoral research at the University of Amsterdam. He completed an MA in Global History at the University of Warwick and undertook undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. He teaches medieval history and historiography in the Department of History at Carleton University.
