Student Testimonials
- Campus Life
-
“ESN (Erasmus Student Network) is an association for international students with many events and even an intro day weekend. They offer free prepay sim cards as well as movie nights, ESN Tuesdays, and group trips. UNI life (app) shows all events and activities happening on campus. Associations for faculties provide group study session (Cedo Nulli is the one for Social & Behavioural Sciences). Concordia has a happy hour on Wednesdays that usually collects all the exchange students or those living in the student housing nearby.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Academic Environment
-
“Look at the options at other faculties early on if interested (they’ll still be on the same campus). Grading system is extremely different and for most courses based almost entirely on the exam.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Housing Experience
-
“Found a room in a three-bedroom house on Facebook marketplace. Was nice location especially if comfortable with biking everywhere.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Setting Up Phone and Bank Account
-
“BUNQ bank is fully online and lets you open up to 90 days before getting your BSN. Costs 2.99 a month but fast set up all digital and mail you maestro debit for free. Revolut is good for switching between currencies and is free to have a prepaid digital Mastercard. N26 is also good and digital, it should be free and many exchange students use it. Europe is far cheaper than Canada for phone plans. I used Simpel, I got a 1 year contract which gave me 8gb for 11euros/month.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Travel Tips
-
“Ryanair and Easyjet are your friend, leave from Eindhoven mostly for Ryanair. With Thalys you can do a day or two-day trip to places like Paris easily, so keep an eye out for prices. Booking.com is useful for stays and to get discounts as you travel. Tulip fields are beautiful in end of April, beginning May. Rent a bike from area around Nordwijk and bike around the fields for hours. Köln Germany has great Christmas markets. Get a Rotterdampass (their only 20euros for students) they let you go to museums and attractions (Euromast, The Depot) for free and give discounts for things like the pancakeboat.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
