“There were a lot of services available, for example academic support, where there will be staff from the exchange team that will check up on you, and they will respond quickly to get all your questions answered and support you in any way you need during the time of your exchange. “Macquarie offers academic support for student with IEP’s and mental health resources such as counselling and group therapy were offered as part of your enrollment. Students Campus life was amazing. Thanks to the exchange society, you can make connections with your peers. They plan daytrips (such as going to surfing lessons at Manly beach) and day/evening events. I took part is scavengers hunts, amazing races, and much more. Furthermore, the university has multiple events such as karaoke, paint nights, winter markets, job fairs, club fairs, and even pizza parties.” – Fall 2022, Bachelor of Global and International Studies

“The academic advisors at your home university will help you out, and then when you arrive at your host university, you can contact the academic advisors there. Once you know how the system works, and what courses you are taking, it will be easier for you. “I lived in a house with roommates, a walking distance to the host university. For the 1 semester that I was there, I was very happy with the place I chose to live. The house search was a bit difficult, because I had no clue what I was looking for, but I suggest using the resources that your host university provides and their suggestions. I recommend Mainstay Boarding House because the house itself is modern, and you will feel like that you are in your own home, and comfortable. “I lived in the Macquarie student village. There was a bus stop right outside the village as well as a shuttle bus to campus. Public transit is very easy to figure out. “I found a local bank, and you tell them that you are on exchange, and how long you are staying in the country, and that you need a temporary account. Almost same idea, search around the data company, find the cheapest one, it’s better to have a local number to contact local people.” – Winter 2024, Bachelor of Global and International Studies

“I applied online with Commonwealth Bank and then once I arrived, I went in person to finalize my account. You will need your passport and Visa for this process. For my cell phone, I purchased a 6-month prepaid sim card from Optus. You buy these at the airport, grocery store, and shopping malls.” – Fall 2022, Bachelor of Global and International Studies

“I highly recommend going to the blue mountains. They have a great youth hostel that is close to all the hikes. Australia has a great public transit system, and it is very easy to take to train anywhere you’d like.
