Student Testimonials
- Campus Life
-
“There were a lot of resources available to me as an exchange student including French language courses, academic support, wellness support, physical and mental health support and much more. It was easy to navigate all these resources, and they were very accommodating.”- Winter 2024, Bachelor of Arts French
- Academic Environment
-
“Finding courses that fit with my program and worked for my academic career was pretty difficult. I think that most of the time picking courses my academic advisor at Carleton helped way more than anyone at my host university. I would recommend assuring the courses they want are available for the exchange program as many courses were not offered to exchange students.” – Winter 2024, Bachelor of Arts French
- Housing Experience
-
“I lived in a shared apartment that I found through spotahome.com. Personally, I would have preferred living with other students and preferably on campus. Spot a home and similar websites were good and easy to understand, also easy to cancel and communicate with your landlord and others.” – Winter 2024, Bachelor of Arts French
- Setting Up Phone and Bank Account
-
“I used Wise for a bank account and that is what basically everyone I knew in Europe used. It’s a great bank and especially useful for transferring money and you can have multiple currencies at a time. I would recommend setting it up a while in advance because my card took a while to come in the mail. For my cell phone, I just went to any of the provider’s stores and asked for the cheapest and most effective plan, many had student options and 6-month options, where you paid ridiculously cheap and got a lot of data.” – Winter 2024, Bachelor of Arts French
- Travel Tips
-
“I would recommend to travel while you are there because you will be glad you did. The traveling aspect opened my eyes the most to the world and it was my favourite part of my trip.” – Winter 2024, Bachelor of Arts French
