“Since there were 3 of us from Carleton that went to the University of Malaga, we decided to rent an apartment with 3 rooms, which was a very good idea in my opinion. The price was fair, and the apartment was beautiful. We had a great relationship with our landlord, and the experience was pretty smooth. The housing search was a bit challenging, and took a lot of our time, but since we were 3, we managed to divide the tasks and make the experience pretty smooth. We had many calls with different landlords, and picked our favorite based on the price, location and friendliness of the landlord. “I opted for an online bank account with the platform Wise, which was very user friendly, and gave me options with many different currencies. As for my phone plan, I used Lobster, which I had to buy a sim card for, the rest of the process was online. “My tips are to use sky scanner to find the cheapest flights and hostel world to find the cheapest accommodations. Make travel friends, as it is more fun to travel with others, and less scary. Be open to new experiences and go with the flow. Talk to strangers, and don’t be scared to make mistakes, as it is how you learn! Be flexible with your dates and destinations to make the most of it with your budget!
