Welcome to Carleton University!
The International Student Services Office is excited to welcome all new undergraduate and graduate students joining Carleton University this Fall 2023. As part of our International Welcome Week for new international students, we have an engaging and informative program planned.
From September 1 – September 6, 2023, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, workshops, and activities designed to enhance your transition to campus life and support you your success as a Carleton University student. This week is free of charge and aims to provide you with valuable resources, insights, and lasting connections.

During International Welcome Week, you can look forward to:
- Connecting with fellow international students through ice-breakers, socials, and events
- Discovering Carleton and Ottawa through a range of activities aimed to explore and familiarize yourself with Carleton University and the vibrant city of Ottawa
- Learning about available resources tailored to support the needs of our international student community
- Developing essential skills to equip you with the necessary social, cultural, and academic skills for a successful transition to university life
- Exploring the key themes of culture, academics, community resources, social connection, transition, and immigration, all of which contribute to the overall success of our international student community

Fall 2023 International Welcome Week Schedule
INTERNATIONAL ORIENTATION DAY
Friday, September 1, 2023
9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Location: Richcraft Hall
- Description: Welcome Global Ravens! Start your journey at Carleton University with a full day of activities intended to prepare you for your academic, social, and cultural transition. Participate in workshops developed by campus experts, share a meal with us, meet new students, and discover campus resources at our Campus Services Fair.
- Please note:
- Registration opens at 9:00am
- Please be sure to indicate if you are bringing a guest (maximum of 1 guest permitted) to this event and indicate your T- Shirt size when you register.
- Daycare will not be provided.

- Explore Downtown Ottawa - Saturday, September 2, 2023

EXPLORE DOWNTOWN OTTAWA – WAITING LIST ONLY
Saturday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Location: Meet at the Carleton Athletics bus stop at 3:00 PM
- Description: Join ISSO volunteers for a journey downtown. Using the OC Transpo Bus system to travel, we will take a walk in the Byward Market, see iconic landmarks, and learn more about navigating Ottawa. This event will take about 2.5 hours after departure. Students can expect to do a lot of walking. Please note that capacity is filled. Kindly select the Waiting List option and we will contact you if a space opens up.
- Please note: Students must pick up their U-PASS prior to departure to ensure smooth travel to downtown Ottawa and back. Students are responsible for the cost of any snacks or souvenirs they would like.
- Vincent Massey Park Visit - Monday, September 4, 2023

VINCENT MASSEY PARK VISIT – (Considering tomorrow heat wave forecasted by Environment Canada, the venue has moved to Oxbow Park)
Monday, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Location: We will leave from campus with volunteers from the Carleton Nicol Building bus stop. Meet up at 10:00 AM
- Description: Join the ISSO for a visit to Vincent Massey Park, an urban park along the Rideau River an Ottawa landmark. The park has wooded walking paths, rolling meadows, scenic vistas, open grassy areas for playing sports and picnic tables. We will spend time learning about one another, making friends and connecting through food. Please note that this is Bring Your Own Food – BYOF picnic. Please note that capacity is filled. Kindly select the Waiting List option and we will contact you if a space opens up.

- Outdoor Movie Night - Tuesday, September 5, 2023

MOVIE NIGHT (Fall O)
Tuesday, Time: 9:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Location: 2000 Minto Centre (movie is no longer outdoors due to extreme weather)
- Description: Have fun watching Jurassic World with your fellow Ravens! A popcorn machine will be at the event.
- Please Note: This event is also open to Fall Orientation participants, making it a great opportunity to connect with other students.
- CU at Game On - Wednesday, September 6, 2023

CU at GAME ON! (Fall O)
Wednesday, Time: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
- Location: Carleton Athletics
- Description:Come test your athletic ability and get your sweat on with your fellow Ravens! Students will have the opportunity to go to Carleton’s Athletics and take part in various fun activities!
- Please Note: There are water fountains located all around the Athletic Space where you can fill up your water bottles.
