The International Student Services Office (ISSO) welcomes you to Carleton University. We are here to support your transition to Carleton with an assortment of orientation and mentorship programs in addition to a a full calendar of events to help you connect with our community as you learn to navigate the culture, services, and social elements of your new home in Ottawa and Carleton University.
MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS
First Year Connections (FYC) (Fall-term Only)
First year undergraduate international students can request a FYC Mentor for support during their first few weeks at Carleton. A FYC Mentor can help you adjust to your new surroundings, become connected to the campus, and focus on your academic success and personal growth. More details on this program can be found here.
The Mentorship Network (offered through the Student Experience Office)
This program connect Peer Mentors and Mentees across the Carleton campus through mentoring relationships. You can find more information on this program here.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMS
CU 1001 – Your Start to Student Life at Carleton (offered through the Student Experience Office)
Taking place throughout the spring and summer, this free online bundled mini-course experience provides new students with a focused introduction to the Carleton community and prepares you for your journey as a Raven. As the first step in a student’s transition to Carleton University, we strongly encourage all new incoming students to actively participate. First year students are encouraged to register for CU 1001 today.
Fall Orientation
Fall Orientation provides incoming students with a week packed full of fun activities, a chance to make new friends, and an opportunity to gain the necessary skills to help transition to university life at Carleton University. Fall Orientation offers four different streams; EngFrosh, SciFrosh, Sprosh, and Central. Participants who enrol are automatically placed in their proper stream based on program of study.
EVENTS CALENDAR
We are constantly adding new events to our calendar. Events provide a mixture of social opportunities such as Canadian Tea Time, Canal Skating, or Museum Tours in addition to educational opportunities such as our Ask An Advisor Sessions, Travel Q&A Sessions, and Ottawa Housing Search Workshops.
