Student Testimonials
- Campus Life
-
“At my host university they have a food donation center which up to 4 times a week they offer things to students for free. They also have a center to get free things from books and
clothes to pots and pans other students have left behind. The University is right beside a hospital but also has a clinic on campus for students. There is an international students center to help with exchange needs and they offer French support classes once-twice a week if you are not taking full CIREFF (learning French courses). There is CMI, a local center for international students and they offer help/services to students from housing to health cards and even trips planed. Also ERASMUS plans fun trips to various places in France. There are clubs for those learning French/exchange students such as radio, music, theater and at the end of each semester puts on a talent show. If you are looking to make friends this is an excellent way!” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Academic Environment
-
“I do not have a strong French understanding and took CIREFF courses to obtain a B1 level certificate. Grading is on a out of 20 scale and they consider 12/20 to be good! And 14-16/20 very good.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Housing Experience
-
“I lived in residence, it was relatively cheap and I made good friends. They give you an option to apply for residence when you get your offer letter. ” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Setting Up Phone and Bank Account
-
“For a bank account, BPN offers free accounts for a year and can be used internationally. I just went to my nearest one with my passport and all my documents I brought. For my cell phone I used Lebera and paid 10 euros so 15ish Canadian for my plan to text/call local & 5 gigs of data a month. I had data from this plan in other countries such as Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. I received my new sim card in less then a week.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
- Travel Tips
-
“Rennes is beautiful! Also recommend Vannes, Rouen, fort la latte, roche fort en terre (I believe its called and is near vannes). Brest & Saint Malo is close and the first weekend of every month train tickets are 5euros for Bretange (the province Rennes is in). Mount saint michelle is also a must! The university often offers trips to many of these places or other student services (CMI or Erasmus) for cheap.” – Winter 2023, Bachelor of Global and International Studies
