LACS is delighted to announce that a new specialist in Latin American studies, Dr. Marylynn Steckley, has joined our incredible team of LACS-affiliated faculty!
Dr. Steckley teaches at the Bachelor of Global and International Studies program. She is a Geographer by training, and her work is located broadly in the field of Political Ecology, with a focus on food systems in Haiti, Thailand, and Indigenous contexts here in Canada. She is particularly interested in processes of social differentiation, displacement, and ‘othering’ through food systems, with an emphasis on how class, race and gender intersect to influence food security, dietary choices, and access to land.
