LACS is delighted to announce that Professor Sonya Lipsett-Rivera has won the 2020 María Elena Martínez Prize in Mexican History for her book  The Origins of Macho: Men and Masculinity in Colonial Mexico (Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2019).

The prize is awarded by the Conference on Latin American History for the book or article judged to be the most significant work on the history of Mexico published during the previous year.
