“…you can speak to so many more people…and understand them deeper than if you simply used a translator….not to mention it is kind of a flex to be able to speak another language!!!!”
Why are you studying a language?
I am studying Spanish because I have such a passion for the language and so much of Spanish/Latin culture. I have always been interested in learning this language that so much of the world speaks. It is a hope of mine to become fluent in this language so that I can travel much of the world and speak with locals. I would also adore the opportunity to have more career doors open due to being able to speak more than one language.
Why do you think it’s important to study a language?
I believe learning another language to be such a vital thing in this life! I mean, imagine how many more experiences you will have, stories you can tell, places you can visit without a language barrier. This way, you can speak to so many more people with a multitude of backgrounds and understand them deeper than if you simply used a translator….Not to mention it is kind of a flex to be able to speak another language!!!!
What is one thing (or more) that surprised you about the language?
It is a lot easier to become more proficient in the language when you immerse yourself in it! While reading texts/textbooks in the language are amazing, there is nothing that helps your comprehension more than when you surround yourself with it. This can be by watching tv-shows and movies in the language, listening to music in the language, and trying to speak it as often.
