Building Canada’s Cybersecurity Future: Launch of the Canadian Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (3CE)
On October 13, 2026, the Canadian Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (3CE) was officially launched, marking a significant step forward in strengthening Canada’s cybersecurity workforce and research capacity.
Led by NPSIA faculty members Alex Wilner and Leah West, the national network brings together researchers from four Canadian universities alongside partners from government, industry, and the non-profit sector.
Based at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, 3CE is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary education, research, and training in cybersecurity. The initiative will support more than 160 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers while creating new opportunities for professional development, experiential learning, and collaboration across the cybersecurity ecosystem.
Focusing on critical issues such as emerging technologies, critical infrastructure protection, national security, foreign interference, research security, democracy, privacy, and human rights, 3CE aims to equip the next generation of cybersecurity professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address an increasingly complex digital threat landscape. By fostering collaboration across disciplines and sectors, the Centre will play a vital role in shaping Canada’s cybersecurity future and strengthening the country’s resilience in the digital age.
