While more and more information – data – is available to explain the complex events shaping global politics, many international affairs experts lack the ability to analyze this data. With the ability to more effectively utilize this data, international affairs researchers and policy makers could better identify and address current and emerging challenges in the world of international affairs, including socio-economic development, climate change, trade and investment, and security.

The Collaborative Specialization in Data Science, coordinated by Carleton’s Institute for Data Science, provides NPSIA students with the skills necessary to gather, collate, analyze and present this data. This Specialization builds upon Carleton’s leading role in data science research and training and integrates applied learning opportunities throughout the Specialization.
