Research Streams

This proposal puts forward three research foci:

Masonry Material Characterization

Timber Material Characterization

Digital Twin Development for Structural Analysis

The objectives of the three foci are to characterize the fundamental properties and behaviours of the two main groups of historic materials, and to investigate advancement in the computational simulation and analysis of historic structures.

The site recording will be jointly supported by resources provided by the Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS) and the McGill Jamieson Structures Lab, including equipment for 3D laser scanning, surveying, aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry, and material and component testing. Each research focus will rely on the selection of material samples from local historic structures for experimental testing and material characterization, enabled through co-operation with the industry partners.
