Happy new year, Ravens! Welcome to the winter term – and if you’re new to Carleton, welcome to the community!
Winter term courses begin on Monday, January 9, 2023. It’s a good time of year to check your timetable and visit the dates and deadlines webpage to make note of important registration related dates (including the academic withdrawal deadline, Winter Break and final exams).
It’s not unusual to have questions when starting a new term. Ask faculty or staff wearing a red Ask Me button or displaying a sign any questions you might have about life at Carleton.
Academic Success
There are numerous supports to help ease you back into the study routine.
- Centre for Student Academic Success (CSAS) offers Learning Support Workshops, Writing Consultation Sessions, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) and more.
- The Science Student Success Centre (SSSC) supports Science students with study groups, mentoring and workshops.
- The Elsie MacGill Learning Centre (EMLC) supports Engineering students with academic support and tutoring.
- The Academic Advising Centre can help you understand your audit and ensure you are fulfilling your degree program’s academic requirements.
If you need help with registering or adjusting your winter term courses, the Student Registration Team is available to help from Wednesday, January 4 until Friday, January 20, 2023.
Supporting Your Wellness
The new Wellness website has excellent information, resources and events to support your mental and physical wellness. If you aren’t sure where to start, our Wellness Services Navigator provides a confidential and curated list of mental health and wellness resources. You will answer a series of questions about how you feel and specific concerns to describe your circumstances, and then the navigator will provide a tailored list of resources on campus and in the community for you based on your answers.
Carleton University undergraduate students have access to free, confidential, 24/7 counselling services in the community through Empower Me. Health and Wellness Services offer medical care and mental health services. Students can access medical and counselling appointments, as well as urgent same day appointments, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by calling 613-520-6674.
Get Connected, Stay Connected
The new Carleton Mobile app is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play! This redeveloped app connects you to news, events, services and other key digital services while simultaneously improving the user experience, both by personalization and an increase in accessibility.
No matter what goals you’ve set for the term, Carleton offers resources to help you achieve them! Visit the current students’ website for a full list of virtual resources, services and events.
We’re glad to have you with us this term and wish you all the best.
