The Centre for Initiatives in Education (CIE) invites all new students to get a jumpstart on their studies by registering for “Academic Prep: How to Be a University Student.

This non-credit, in-person course is designed for students who want to jump-start their transition into university. We also welcome students who have already taken a few classes and would like to upgrade their skills.

The difficult pandemic years continue to impact students in the form of mental health struggles, skill gaps, and lack of confidence, but Academic Prep can help.

The course blends interactive lectures with hands-on workshops to teach strategies, skills, and habits for success.

Topics Include:

  • student mental health
  • notetaking
  • time management
  • and problem solving.

After the course ends, students can attend optional group check-ins and meet one-on-one with an academic coach to help support their ongoing academic success and connect them with additional campus resources.
