Do you want to make new friends on campus and nurture your social skills? Join the Social Communication Group to connect with other students through discussion, activities, TV screenings and conversational practice!

We meet every second Wednesday of the month from 12:00-1:30PM in 424 Nideyinàn (the Carleton Disability Awareness Centre).

Our last group session of the fall semester will be held on December 13th and the topic will be Holidays: Gatherings, Gifts and More! The holidays can be both an exciting and stressful time for most of us, but being prepared for holiday social events can cut down on the stress. In our December group session, we will be discussing strategies for gift-giving, answering questions from long-lost relatives, as well as practicing our holiday party conversational skills. If you are feeling crafty and want to express your artistic side, we will have a card-making station set up to create holiday art for our friends and families.

In 2024, watch out for these upcoming Social Communication Group sessions:

January 10: How to Start a Conversation and Make Friends – Part Two

February 14: Disability Media Representation & Self-care Valentine-Making

March 13: Online Social Skills

April 10: Board/Video Game Day
