Provide Feedback on the Draft Academic Plan
To All Members of the Carleton Community,
We are writing today to invite you to provide feedback on the draft Carleton Academic Plan (CAP), which has been under development over the last several months. Knowing that the worlds of research, teaching, and learning are irrevocably intertwined, this strategic plan will address these components in interconnected ways. The CAP seeks to:
- Articulate a cohesive academic (teaching, learning, and research) strategy;
- Provide concrete objectives for implementing the commitments of the Strategic Integrated Plan that intersect with the academic mission (teaching, learning, and research); and
- Bridge the Strategic Integrated Plan and Faculty-level plans.
The CAP is being written and co-chaired by: Catherine Khordoc, Deputy Provost (Academic Operations and Planning); David Hornsby, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Sandra Crocker, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Initiatives and Operations); and Jane van den Dries, Manager, Strategic Communications/Executive Assistant, Office of the Provost.
To date, the CAP has been developed in consultation with the Deans and University Librarian, and their respective teams, along with members of the Vice-Presidents’ Academic and Research Committee (VPARC). Once the CAP is finalized, we will seek approval at VPARC and Senate.
Following a fruitful discussion about the contents of the CAP at Senate on Feb. 24, we are pleased to distribute an advance draft of the Carleton Academic Plan and invite feedback from all members of the Carleton community. Feedback can be submitted online until March 9. We thank you for your engagement and look forward to your comments.
Sincerely,
Jerry Tomberlin
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
Rafik Goubran
Vice-President (Research and International)
