Dr. Mary Francoli Appointed Interim Dean of Carleton’s Faculty of Public and Global Affairs
Carleton University Provost and Vice-President (Academic) L. Pauline Rankin has announced the appointment of Dr. Mary Francoli as Interim Dean in the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs (FPGA), effective January 1, 2026, for an 18-month term concluding June 30, 2027.
Dr. Francoli is an Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies in the School of Journalism and Communication. She previously served as Associate Dean of FPGA in multiple portfolios between 2017 and 2023, including as Director of the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs.
“Dr. Francoli brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs,” said Provost Rankin. “I am confident that under her guidance, the Faculty will continue to thrive and advance its mission of building stronger democracies and better societies, improving governance and public policy, fostering informed citizenship, and addressing regional and global challenges.”
Following administrative leave, current Dean Brenda O’Neill will return to her position as Professor in the Department of Political Science.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. O’Neill for her dedication to the Faculty and significant contributions to FPGA and Carleton since joining the University in Fall 2020,” said Rankin.
