Nadeem Siddiqi

Vice-Provost (Graduate Studies)

Nadeem (Dan) Siddiqi is a Professor of Linguistics in the School of Linguistics and Language Studies.  Dan served as the Associate Dean (Programs) in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs and as the Associate Director of Linguistics in the School of Linguistics and Language Studies where he was instrumental in developing Carleton’s graduate programs in Linguistics. Additionally, Dan has chaired several significant University committees, including the Senate Committee on Curriculum, Admissions and Studies Policy, the Senate Review Committee and the FASS Faculty Board. 

Dan did his undergraduate studies in English at the University of California, Davis.  He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Mills College in Oakland, California.  He also holds an MA and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Arizona. His research focuses on formal linguistics and philosophy of science with specializations in morphology, grammatical architecture, and metatheory.
