David Wood, an associate professor of Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, has extensive experience in teacher education and language teaching, not only Canada, but abroad.

David has published numerous teaching materials and has served as a consultant to several levels of government on language education issues. His research interests centre around language teaching and how we acquire a language.

In 2009, David received the Capital Educators’ Award for his acclaim within the School of Linguistics and Applied Language. His research interests are a testament to David’s innate understanding of how we communicate and connect with one another, through language. As a result, his students have consistently lauded David as a favourite professor.

His students, who praise him for his interactive teaching, are encouraged by David’s unique approach, allowing them to not only take an active role in their own learning process, but to also build and develop a relationship with each other.
