Exploring AI Adoption in Graduate Literature Reviews

This study aims to investigate how graduate students adopt AI-powered literature review tools using an adapted Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) framework. We seek to determine which factors influence students’ intentions to use these tools and their actual usage in research. The findings will help inform future strategies for integrating AI into academic research training in the TIM Program at the Sprott School of Business.

With the growing importance of AI in research, understanding the key factors influencing its use can lead to improved research efficiency, better-informed curriculum development, and enhanced tool design. The findings from this study are expected to benefit graduate students, academic institutions, and AI developers by providing actionable insights to optimize AI integration in academic research.
