Terms and Conditions

Please familiarize yourself with the Terms and Conditions of the U-Pass.

  1. The cost of the U-Pass is set by the City of Ottawa as part of their annual budget review, and in line with the contractual agreement restricting increases.
  2. The U-Pass provides ridership privileges throughout the designated validity period, and is subject to availability of equipment and service.
  3. The U-Pass must be presented to uniformed OC Transpo employees, OC Transpo Enforcement Officers and police officers in an open and unrestricted manner upon demand.
  4. To be valid the U-Pass must show no signs of tampering.
  5. The U-Pass is valid as payment of the full fare on OC Transpo vehicles providing regular, express, rural express, or Para Transpo transit services. Para Transpo service to rural zones requires an additional fare.
  6. U-Passes are non-transferable and personal.
  7. Invalid or misused U-Passes will be confiscated and/or a Provincial Offence Notice will be issued. Fines range from $100 to $700.

Students who fail to comply may be subject to fines by OC Transpo and to sanctions under the Student Rights and Responsibility Policy.

Fall 2025 / Winter 2026 Parking Update

Due to the high demand for parking on campus, for the 2025-2026 school year, student parking permits will only be available for students with U-Pass waivers (who live outside the Urban Transit Area and Rural Transit Area A) OC Transpo Urban and Rural .eps

U-Pass waivers will be available starting July 5, 2025. You can apply for a waiver on Carleton Central. Waivers are typically processed within two weeks. Once your waiver confirmation is received by email, forward it with an e-mail request for a Student parking permit to parking@carleton.ca.
