Ajay Parasram

Ajay Parasram is a doctoral candidate in the department of Political Science and the Institute of Political Economy, Carleton University. Alongside these roles, he is a multigenerational and trans-national by-product of British colonization, which informs his research. He was a SSHRC Doctoral Fellow (2012 – 2014), and a Post Graduate Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (2008 – 2010) working on citizenship policy, the Canadian Diaspora, and security policy. Ajay’s current work concerns the colonial constitution of modern nation-states and the various movements of people, resources, and worldviews associated with these migrations in the last two hundred years. He sits on the board of directors for the Ottawa based One World Dialogue, and The Leveller newspaper.
