A recent survey of 3 million Americans between the ages of 21 and 65 indicates that the long-term career and earnings prospects of Humanities and Liberal Arts graduates are better than graduates in professional fields, if one looks at an entire earning lifetime. Unemployment rates for Humanities graduates were found to be low, and to decline over time. Humanities graduates were also found to have a disproportionately high rate of advanced degrees after the Bachelor’s, and receive a much larger boost in earnings than do professional graduates with similar qualifications.
