What is your favourite thing about the College?

I loved the convivial atmosphere of the College most of all. Knowing that you could always find a friend in the lounge was so comforting. We learned, laughed, discussed, and grew together. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it all.

What will you miss the most?

The people. Not everyone can say they were on a first-name basis with their professors, or that they genuinely knew every person in their class. I’m really going to miss the camaraderie and warmth that we all found in the College.

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

This is tough but I think The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius was my favourite text. My copy is covered in pen and highlighter. For some reason, I find his exploration of free will comforting and reassuring. I think it feels especially relevant during times of crisis like this when perhaps we could all benefit from a conversation with Lady Philosophy.

What’s next for you?

I’m returning to Carleton in the fall for my MA in Public History with a specialization in Digital Humanities. I’m literally moving up in the world – the history department is one floor above the College!
