Ottawa Convention Centre
July 6-10, 2012
Co-organizers: Andrew Simons (Carleton U, Dept. Biology); Howard Rundle (U of Ottawa, Dept. Biology)
Carleton’s Faculty of Science and the Office of the Vice President (Research & International) are official sponsors of the First Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology (aka ‘Evolution 2012’). This landmark event will bring together five of the world’s largest academic societies devoted to the study of ecology and evolutionary biology: the American Society of Naturalists (ASN), the Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution (CSEE) the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB), the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE), and the Society of Systematic Biologists (SSB). The meeting will be the premier showcase in 2012 for the presentation and discussion among peers of the latest, leading-edge research in ecology and evolution, and will also be an important forum for outreach and education. Notably, two free public outreach seminars are open to the general public, and no registration is required:
1) Stephen J. Gould Prize winner (2012)
Friday, July 6 at 7:30, Canada Hall, Ottawa Convention Centre
Speaker: David Quammen
2) CSEE outreach seminar
Sunday, July 8 at 7:30, Canada Hall, Ottawa Convention Centre
