On December 10th, the Carleton University community gathered to celebrate the brilliance of its Postdoctoral Fellows during 2024 CU-PSAC Research Award Competition. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., 12 talented postdocs from various fields took to the stage to present their groundbreaking research. Each researcher had only five minutes to capture the attention of a broad audience, making it an exciting challenge to condense complex ideas into concise and engaging presentations.

An interdisciplinary panel, tasked with evaluating the presentations, awarded $1,350 to the top five presenters. The stakes were high, but the Biology department emerged as the undisputed powerhouse of the event. Out of the five prestigious awards, three went to Biology Postdocs: Dr. Jacinta Kong, Dr. Tom Kazmirchuk, and Dr. Carmen Galán Acedo.

Their success highlighted the strength and depth of the Biology department at Carleton, solidifying its reputation as a hub of excellence in research. The event was a celebration of not just the winners but all the postdocs who contribute so much to the scientific community, showcasing the diversity and impact of their research.
