The Carleton University community is saddened to learn of the death of Alexis Bawagan, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Bawagan has been with the Department of Chemistry since 1988. He was an active researcher and very proud of his role in educating students. In particular, Dr. Bawagan has a long history of teaching large first-year chemistry classes to engineering students. His efforts were very well received by those who took his class. Dr. Bawagan was also an active member of the Carleton community. He has been an active member of CUASA for many years and was a member of the CUASA Council.

Dr. Bawagan passed away suddenly on March 7, 2014. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, located at 320 Olmstead Street, Vanier, Ont.

The university extends sincere condolences to his family and his many friends in the Carleton community, including students, faculty and staff who knew him.
