2015 Gerhard Herzberg Lecture

The 2015 Gerhard Herzberg Lecture will discuss “The Brain on Stress: Novel Epigenetic Mechanisms of Brain Plasticity”. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Bruce McEwen, the Alfred E. Mirsky Professor and Head, and Harold and Margaret Milliken of the Hatch Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology at Rockefeller University.

Dr. McEwen is a neuroscientist and neuroendocrinologist with Rockefeller University. He will discuss how chronic stress affects the brain and how the brain and body communicate this imbalance through hormonal and neural pathways. While the need for early prevention of stress is clear, research is hopeful that new therapeutic avenues will come from taking a more holistic approach and considering these brain-body interactions
