The graduate program at Carleton offers several tracks leading to a MSc or PhD degree in Chemistry:
- Master of Science Chemistry
- Master of Science Chemistry with Concentration in Food Science
- Master of Science with Specialization in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology
- Master of Science with Chemistry with Collaborative Specialization in Biochemistry
- Ph.D. Chemistry
- Ph.D. with Concentration in Food Science
- Ph.D. Chemistry with Collaborative Specialization in Biochemistry
- Ph.D. Chemical and Environmental Toxicology (collaborative)
These tracks provide students flexibility in crafting a curriculum that meets student’s professional goals. In addition to taking graduate courses, graduate students make significant contributions in the research program of a faculty member. Our graduate students further their education in chemistry, author original publications, present their work at scientific conferences, mentor undergraduate researchers, and gain experience as teaching assistants in undergraduate laboratory classes. In addition, faculty and students often collaborate with other Carleton departments, and federal agencies in Ottawa including the National Research Council, the National Science Library (CISTI), Health Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, and Agriculture Canada. Alumni from Carleton Chemistry are exceptionally well prepared to enter careers in government, industry, academia, or professional schools.
