Yummmm! Lunch time is hands down the best part of any day! (We can debate this statement later) And while we’re making the rest of our day environmentally sustainable, why not make lunch environmental and sustainable too?
Instead of purchasing your lunch and having waste and packaging to throw away after, pack a lunch. You could pack your lunch the night before using leftovers from dinner, or you could make something different.
You could make it even more sustainable by using sustainable ingredients, whether you purchase or produced them.
Skip the individually packaged snacks. You can reduce your waste daily by eliminating garbage from your lunchbox. Hooray!! Instead you can use reusable containers rather than single use plastic bags and cling-wrap.
Mason jars are great containers to use for packing your lunch. They are great size proportions, you can put them in the microwave, and there are so many fun recipes you can make in jars. If you need more inspiration for your mason jar lunches, you can look on Pinterest.
Its also important to think seasonal when packing your lunch. By buying food that is in season it is cost-effective and also means buying more locally. AKA reducing the carbon footprint.
Don’t forget to pack your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day!
