Heating bills can be expensive, but with winter settling in and recent snow falls, the cold weather is already upon us and you probably already have your thermostat cranked up.  Am I right? We get it, really, nobody likes to be cold and working or living in a cold house.

Adjust the thermostatThat being said, there’s no need to have the temperature warm enough that you can wear shorts and a t-shirt inside the apartment as though it were the middle of summer.  I know we’re dreaming of the warm weather already but relax and enjoy the winter season and snow; turn down the thermostat a bit and go put on a sweater and socks. Dress for the weather, instead of adjusting the temperature. Its going to be fine, we promise, its really not that bad. Your body will adjust to the temperature with thermal adaption so you won’t feel the difference in temperature after while.

Turning down the temperature by 3 degrees can save almost 75$ combined for the whole heating season. And not only will you be saving money, but you’ll also be saving energy that is otherwise just heating an empty house.

And if you’re still completely against turning the thermostat down even a smidgen, perhaps consider turning it down when you leave the house during the day for work. Turning down the temperature by 7-10 degrees for 8 hours of a day while you’re away at work can save as much as 10% on your heating bills.
