Position Title: Research Assistant
Period: November – January 2016, with possible extension
Remuneration: The successful candidate will be paid $25/hour for 5-10 hours per week.
Description: The Centre for Studies on Poverty and Social Citizenship (CSPSC) is seeking a research assistant with demonstrated skills in research and writing to contribute to the Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement (CFICE) action research project. The research assistant will work under the supervision of the Chair of the Centre as well as the Community Co-leads from the CFICE Tools for Community-First Community Campus Engagement working group. The purpose of the research assistant’s work will be to support the development of a toolkit to guide community-based brokers in sustaining Community-Campus Engagement (CCE) relationships; this might include reviewing and analyzing relevant literature and tools, or assisting in organizing focus group studies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong familiarity with electronic resources including journal databases and ‘grey’ literature
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
- Previous experience of the research process and written production of literature reviews desirable
- Currently studying in Carleton’s School of Social Work, PhD, MSW or BSW program
