The Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement project is seeking an experienced undergrad or Masters student to work as our Summer Research Administrative Assistant.
The position will run from April 4 to August 31, 2017 (possible fall/winter extension), with the student completing up to 20 hours per week. The position will be compensated according to experience at a rate of between $18.00 – $26.10/hour.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with project-related financial transactions
- Coordinating meetings and producing meeting minutes
- Providing clerical assistance to the project, including:
- Maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the main project databases
- Assisting with the creation of SSHRC Canadian Common CVs (CCVs)
- Updating and maintaining administrative manuals, templates, etc.
- Researching and drafting reports
- Assisting with communications content
- Other tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Current Carleton University Undergraduate or Masters student
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail is a MUST — applications with grammatical and spelling errors will be automatically excluded from consideration
- Administrative experience (e.g. minute-taking, data tracking, travel claims, budgeting, etc.)
- Strong English writing skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Independent worker with a strong ability to prioritize tasks with multiple deadlines
- Ability to work with moderately complex spreadsheets
- A positive and motivated attitude
- The ability and willingness to listen and ask questions
Desirable Qualities:
- Experience with MS Access a major asset
- Experience with report writing
- Experience in communications or journalism
- Experience working in a grant-funded organization
