CFICE logo with full name spelled out: Community First: Impacts of Community EngagementThe Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement (CFICE) project is seeking an experienced undergrad or Masters student to work as our Communications Research Assistant.

The position will run from August 14, 2017 to March 31, 2018 (possible spring/summer 2018 extension), with the student completing up to 10 hours per week. The position will be compensated according to experience at a rate of between $18.00 – $26.10/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Soliciting and preparing working group-generated content for dissemination and promotion
  • Working with the communications teams of partner organizations to coordinate efforts
  • Developing content for the CFICE blog and social media, including conducting interviews
  • Writing and placing CFICE articles in selected publications (newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc.)
  • Editing written materials in preparation for release
  • Developing knowledge mobilization products such as infographics, presentations, videos, etc.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for positive brand exposure
  • Developing monthly media and social media plans
  • Evaluating communications efforts and completing monthly analytics reports
  • Recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Current Carleton University Undergraduate or Masters student
  • Excellent English written and verbal communications skills — applications with grammatical and spelling errors will be automatically excluded from consideration
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Independent worker with an ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines
  • Experience editing and maintaining web content, and social media content
  • Comfortable asking questions for clarification and taking initiative
  • Capable of working professionally with different project personalities
  • A working knowledge of design applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is an asset
