The Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement project is seeking an experienced Masters student to work as a Communications Research Assistant.
The position will run from January 15, 2018 to March 31, 2018 (possible spring/summer 2018 extension), with the student completing up to 10 hours per week. The position will be compensated at a rate of $26.10/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Soliciting and preparing working group-generated content for dissemination and promotion
- Working with the communications teams of partner organizations to coordinate efforts
- Developing content for the CFICE blog, including conducting interviews
- Writing and placing CFICE articles in selected publications (newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc.)
- Editing written materials in preparation for release
- Developing knowledge mobilization products such as infographics, presentations, videos, etc.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities for positive brand exposure
- Assisting with the development of monthly media and social media plans
- Recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Current Carleton University Masters student
- Excellent English written and verbal communications skills — applications with grammatical and spelling errors will be automatically excluded from consideration
- Journalism experience
- A proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Independent worker with an ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines
- Experience editing and maintaining web content
- Comfortable asking questions for clarification and taking initiative
- Capable of working professionally with different project personalities
- A working knowledge of design applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is an asset
