From May 1 – June 19, CFICE is hosting a series of regional roundtables with co-hosting institutions and organizations across Canada.
The purpose of these roundtables is to engage in cross-sectoral, multiple stakeholder discussions about community-campus engagement in Canada. The ideas generated at these regional roundtables will contribute to a National Roundtable in Ottawa on June 20th, 2018 which will be focused on ‘Co-Creating the Future of CCE in Canada’.
Goals of the Roundtables
The goals of these regional roundtables are to:
- Connect multi-sector partners who share similar goals of engaging with post-secondary institutions (PSIs) to advance stronger, more equitable communities and to increase community-based student learning and research opportunities
- Explore the current community-campus engagement landscape across Canadian regions, with a focus on the policy contexts and existing assets and opportunities, including networks, interests, and funding mechanisms
- Contribute ideas and recommendations to government bodies, funders and PSI’s about improving the policies and funding mechanisms for community-campus engagement to have a greater positive impact on societal well being
- Grow the impact of community-campus engagement in Canada and globally through the development of capacity building and funding programs, multi-sectoral collaboration, and network development.
Dates and Locations
Each roundtable will have some common elements but will also reflect the local community and culture of community-campus engagement in its programming. Some are planned to be full day events, while others are casual conversations that last only a few hours. The roundtables currently being planned include the following:
