Rhonda Ferguson

Rhonda Ferguson is a community-academic postdoctoral fellow with Food Secure Canada and Lakehead University. Through this role, she is involved with a number of projects related to the accessibility of sustainably-produced foods in Canada, Northern sustainable food systems, and the organization’s National Assembly. Her research interests include food security and sovereignty, famine, international human rights law, agricultural trade, and socio-economic rights. She is also a research associate with the Dahdaleh Institute of Global Health Research and the Nathanson Centre on Transnational Human Rights, Crime and Security at York University. Her doctoral work assessed the compatibility of the right to food in international law and the WTO’s agriculture rules. She has a PhD from the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland Galway. She has taught and worked with NGOs and intergovernmental organizations in Canada, Ireland, Switzerland, Thailand, and Myanmar.
