Despite inclement weather, a large crowd managed to make their way to the Sunnyside Branch of the Ottawa Public Library for the inaugural Ingenious Talks series on Wednesday night. Jeremy Laliberté, Assistant Professor with Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering spoke for close to an hour about how the current and changing regulatory environment in Canada is set to make drone technology a growth industry and on drone technology.
Until now, drones have been a fairly casual and niche sector. However, the use of drones for commercial use, and the research into the design and engineering of next generation drones, in the near future is projected to far outpace the work done in the sector according to Laliberté.
The Ingenious Talks series continues on Wed. Apr 1 where Alex Ellery, Professor with Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will be talking about Space Robotics.
