It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Carleton community acknowledges the loss of Professor A. O. Abd El Halim, who passed away yesterday, September 19, 2019.
Throughout a storied career at Carleton spanning nearly four decades, Halim made many outstanding academic and professional contributions to the University, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
Halim was set to retire this coming December at the end of 2019, following more than 38 years of dedicated service at Carleton. He will be greatly missed by friends and colleagues within the Carleton community, as well as by the countless students he has inspired over the course of his career.

Funeral prayer will take place at 1:30 pm following regular weekly Friday prayer (1:00-1:30 pm). Interment will follow funeral prayer at the Ottawa Muslim Cemetery located at 1668 Manotick Station Rd, Ottawa, ON, K4P 1M9.
