The focus of this event is how to make your job application stand out. This includes how to structure your CV, prepare for interviews and how to brand yourself to prospective employers. You will hear from leading experts in the field.
There will also be members of Carleton’s C-op office in attendance to help students with their CV and answer questions about the program.
Who can attend the event?
We encourage women from all backgrounds and identities to join this Mentorship Night, especially women students in a Carleton University Bachelor, Master’s or Doctoral program, of: engineering, IT, applied science, computer science, mathematics, or physics. We are committed to creating spaces that are welcoming and supportive to women of all backgrounds, intersecting identities, and experiences – including racialized women, women with disabilities, Indigenous women, etc.
Mentors
Monica graduated from Ontario Tech University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 2018. She is now an Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, where she has been applying her expertise to a range of projects for the past six years. Harpreet earned her Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carleton University in 2018. She is currently an Advanced Software Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, where she has been involved in SATCOM projects for over five years. Khadija holds a Master’s degree in financial management and accounting with 9 years of combined experience in Financial and Banking Consulting, and Human Resources. This allowed her to acquire a wealth of skills that support her current career path as a HR professional at the CNSC with particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
Khadija is passionate about building strong and long-lasting relationships both personally and professionally and she will always greet you with a big smile and a genuine admiration for who you are. Her most precious possession is her passport that she uses to travel the world. Caileen Dolan graduated from computer engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2020, and now works as a software developer at Ross Video. During her degree, she got to work on a wide range of applications through her co-ops, from power distribution systems to security cameras, and now enjoys working in the broadcasting industry. When she isn’t working, she enjoys volunteering and playing Dungeons and Dragons. Mounika is currently a Hardware Developer at Ross Video, where she has been applying her expertise in electrical and computer engineering since 2021. Prior to that, she worked at Giatec Scientific Inc. in Ottawa, specializing in Bluetooth LE and LoRa technologies. She also participated in several Bluetooth workshops, gaining experience in integrating ultra-low-power, secure Bluetooth SoCs into advanced designs.
Before joining Giatec, she gained valuable experience at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in India, contributing to hardware design and development in digital, analog, and mixed IC domains. Mounika holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carleton University, where she maintained an excellent academic record.
She also published multiple papers in international journals. She has certifications in software development and product testing using Python and is proficient in modeling, testing, and verifying DSP algorithms using MATLAB. Her knowledge of machine learning, neural networks, and data visualization further enhances her ability to address complex engineering problems.
With strong foundations in engineering mathematics—ranging from linear algebra to FFTs, probability, and statistics—she excels in hardware design architecture, including circuit logic, RTL, and simulation verification. Her expertise also extends to physical design aspects such as schematics, layouts, and RF circuit design, with a focus on power efficiency.
Mounika is passionate about sharing knowledge and has mentored students, cultivating excellent communication and interpersonal skills along the way.
