Carleton University has once again been recognized as an international leader in telecommunications engineering by ShanghaiRanking in their 2024 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects report.
Carleton’s communications engineering profile was ranked 32nd in the world (12 spots up from last year) and 3rd in Canada, just behind the University of Waterloo and the University of British Columbia.
“We welcome ShanghaiRanking’s recognition of our communications engineering profile,” says Yvan Labiche, Chair of the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering. “Our researchers are known international experts and students have access to unparalleled labs and facilities located in Ottawa, the national capital of Canada.”
ShanghaiRanking’s 2023 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) ranked 55 subjects, including engineering, at 5,000 universities across 104 countries. GRAS uses a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure program performance, including research output, influence, international collaboration and academic awards.
“The credit goes to our phenomenal community of researchers and students,” says Larry Kostiuk, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design. “Each year, they push the boundaries of the communications engineering profession and what’s possible. We are proud of this international recognition.”
