Environment Days are coming to Carleton University, hosted by the Centre for European Studies, the German Embassy, the Goethe Institute and the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. From October 15 until October 19, Carleton’s Environment Days will be headlined by an art exhibit in the Galleria of the University Centre entitled “Berlin on the Go: Towards a Pedestrian Friendly City.”

The art display exhibits different, innovative initiatives that the city of Berlin uses to encourage people to walk, cycle and use public transit. All this is done in an effort to create a more livable city. The city has introduced a variety of incentives to encourage this, including wider sidewalks, daigonal crossings, more green spaces, public squares and pedestrian zones. As a result, Berlin is a safer and more pleasant city in which to live and people are encouraged to use more environmental forms of transportation.

When: October 15-19

Where: Galleria at the University Centre

In addition to this art exhibition, the Centre for European Studies will be hosting the following events for Carleton’s Environment Days:

October 17: European Union and Canadian Environmental Policy: moving in tandem or moving apart?

October 18: Making Urban Transport Sustainable: Lessons from Europe and North America
