EURUS Professor and CES Scholar Crina Viju spoke to Embassy Magazine on September 19 on the issues in the Canada-EU Trade Talks, saying that if certain issues are to remain on the table, it may in fact take longer than the remaining few months of the year to sort them out. According to the article, the difficult issues in the Canada-EU Trade Talks fall into two categories; those that require a political decision and those that need a lot of technical work. One of the important issues that requires a political decision is intellectual property, more specifically Professor Viju said one of the intellectual property issues is the so-called geographical indicators, where certain products are recognized as coming from a specific region.
