On 19 September 2018, Alison LeClaire visited EURUS and other Carleton students for an informal career exploratory discussion. She provided the group  with  useful career advice and shared her experience on Canada’s relations with various countries. Her work  focuses on the geopolitical area of the Arctic, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.  Ms. Leclaire highlighted efforts to build and strengthen Canada’s relations in the Caucasus region and Central Asia. The main objective of her office is to focus on open government and to navigate complicated relationships within these regions,  She also discussed  entry ways to obtain employment  with Global Affairs Canada,   ranging from internships to co-op positions to indeterminate positions.  Ms. LeClaire stressed the importance of having French and English, as well as  a language from a region with which  Canada is interested in maintaining or strengthening  relations.
