Please join us for a special guest lecture given by Canadian Ambassador Chris Westdal on Canadian – Russian Relations and Harper’s Foreign Policy.  Drawing on decades of diplomatic experience, Ambassador Westdal will share his insights into the state of Canadian-Russian relations, with an eye to the greater context and nature of Canadian foreign policy under Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Speaker biography: Chris Westdal was Canadian Ambassador to Russia 2003-06; the UN in Geneva and the Conference on Disarmament 1999-2003; Ukraine 1996-98; South Africa 1991-93; and Bangladesh and Burma 1982-85. He earlier worked for CIDA in Tanzania, India and Nepal. In Ottawa, he worked at CIDA, DFAIT and the PCO. He studied political science at St John’s College (BA 1970) and public administration at the University of Manitoba (MBA 1970). Now a consultant and occasional commentator on international affairs, he has served on corporate boards with interests in Russia and Ukraine and is a director of Silver Bear Resources.
